143 WITNESS
143 WITNESS
Rev 12:11 And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.
Act 22:15 For thou shalt be his witness unto all men of what thou hast seen and heard.
Witness - A person or thing able to give evidence; a person who saw something happen. [dictionary]
As Christians, we are only called, by God, to give evidence to what we have seen God do for us or others. To tell someone what we heard God is doing for people in another place is gossip and, unless it comes from a very trusted source, should not be repeated as our truth. We are to speak only the truth we know personally because we can speak with the authority of ourselves as proof; when we speak of something we have not seen or experienced, we can be manipulated because we don’t know the facts.
For me to say that God can save a soul from sin is part of my witness because He has saved my soul from my sins, for me to say that God can heal is part of my witness because He has healed me on a number of occasions and for me to say that He can save or heal others is my witness because I have seen Him save and heal others in my presence.
The fact that the bible says the same things is the witness of two spoken of by God that should encourage faith for those that want to believe in God.
You cannot speak with authority on any of God’s doings unless you have experienced them or seen them and, unless you know the bible well, it is better for you not to try to explain God’s ways until you can give a personal account.
We are not called to speak about things that we do not know; that is why God wants us to get personal with Him, so He can give us first hand experiences about Him to others.
The first apostles spoke of Jesus with authority and those around them made mention that they had been with Jesus and knew what they were talking about.
Act 4:13 Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were unlearned and ignorant men, they marvelled; and they took knowledge of them, that they had been with Jesus.
We can do much harm by speculating and imagining in our efforts to make people believe the truth about God by not having the personal proof; we are not salesmen, trying to get someone to take a product for gain or glory. Speculation weakens our faith and gives our enemies the upper hand but they cannot argue about true facts that come out of our own memory.
Every Christian that has met Jesus and knows Him has a witness; stick to what you know because those of the world will ask about many things that trouble them to try and draw you away from your witness to something that you know nothing about so they can win over you. They are faithful to their master and, if we want to win, we must be faithful to ours; trust Him and just be His witness.
