Wither the Liberal, NDP and Green blogs?

Not to say they don’t exist. They do but Conservatives dominate the blogging scene. More on that at this neat feature at CBC regarding the online component of the federal election. H/T to Terry Seguin of CBC Fredericton’s Information Morning who mentioned this today (Two plugs for CBC in a week. Who would have thought?)

This actually comes a day after mikel pointed out in the comments of one of the blogs here that I had in the past mentioned there was a lack of left-winged blogs. Seems it’s a cross country phenomenon not just New Brunswick.

Why?

I don’t know. Conspiracy theories don’t wash since anyone regardless of their political stripe can start a blog for nothing except their time. In New Brunswick at least, many of the political blogs might favour conservative ideals but tend to lean towards being non-partisan instead of joining the Blogging Tories or Liblogs for whatever reason.

As I mentioned to Mike, maybe it’s because the Left already has most of the mainstream media so there’s little problem getting their voices heard. Maybe. Maybe it’s something else. Conspiracy theories aside, your thoughts?

The media makes news today, not reporting it. There have for years been blogs which are an extension of the various forms of communications. Some blogs may be thought by the media as a play thing until there is something serious or news worthy like a federal election. To set themselves perhaps a distance from their competitors, they make up an election story, and give their readers, listeners their view on what they view as political party blogs. where as these blogs were set up, maintained and operated as an element of communications.

How can the media state that these are specific political party blogs. What I feel they are doing is making news and not reporting it.

There are some blogs that seem to be doing the job the media should be doing. Perhaps they fear honest blogs.

No conspiracy, you got it right. The CBC and most other Canadian media sound like the PR branch of the Libs. Right wingers have only blogs to vent.

Now, when will someone wonder why so many people want to vote for Harper, a man who never does right (according to the CBC, that is)? When will someone write that the ever increasing popularity of Conservatives is the results of the blogs' influence?

If you have no clue what I am talking about, take a big breath and visit www.smalldeadanimals.com, the most popular Canadian blog. Kate McMillan will show you the rest.
