Building robotic wonders

Last Friday, students from Magnetic Hill School in Moncton and Claude D. Taylor School in Riverview gathered to participate in an inter-school Robotic Competition.

The grade 4 and 5 students worked hard building and programming the robots either individually or in groups using Lego MindStorm NXT and Transportation Kit projects.

Judges visited each project for a demonstration of what the robots could do and awarded marks to each project.

In the end, first and second place winners were named, with a group from Claude D. Taylor School receiving first place, and a Magnetic Hill School team in second place.

Congratulations toMatthew Dixon. Daniel Grasse, and Blake Flinn or Claude D. Taylor on their winning project.

Brennan Kent, Kai Massoeurs, Rose Boucher, Billy Roach, Austin Allen, Isiah McNulty, Tim Merideth and Jenna Bassett were the Magnetic Hill students awarded second place.

Claude D. Taylor and Magnetic Hill Schools thank the Professional Engineer’s Association, Touchie Engineering and the Terrain Group for their generous financial support.

Special thanks went out to John Gallant, Lisa Grasse and Michelle Gould who have given generously of their time and expertise for the students involved in this project.

After the judging, parents and classmates of the young engineers were invited to view the displays.
