Time for a holiday walk through town

The DRBA's Christmas Stroll is a great way to support local businesses and develop a deeper sense of community

For the third year in a row, the Downtown Riverview Business Association has organized the Christmas Stroll.
This year's event has been spread out over two days to allow the community to experience all that has been planned, and what a plan it is.
The Stroll was officially kicked off last week, with the Celebrity Trivia Challenge at the Fox'n'Hound, and the good-natured fun had at that event truly did set the tone for the events that will take place over the next two days.
From the scavenger hunt to the CANBuild structures, from the special story time to the community Christmas concert, the Christmas Stroll represents all that is the best of Riverview - community pride, the giving spirit and a genuine desire to know and help your neighbours.
Participating in some or all of the planned events is more than just a good time for all ages.
It also helps to build a sense of who we are as a group. It's a starting point for our youth and for newcomers to the town, and a reminder for the rest of us.
The complete list of activities and shopping specials is too long to record here, but you can visit christmasstroll.blogspot.com for all the latest details, or call the Downtown Riverview Business Association at 382-6223.
Depending on the weather today and Friday, put on your mittens and scarf or pull out your umbrella, grab the kids and the dog and head downtown.
You'll find more than just holiday fun. You'll find out what it truly means to be home.
Who knows? Maybe you'll also find someone who is new to our town, and you'll be helping them to find out, too.
