
20 Questions with . . . Angelique Reddy


1. In one word, how would you describe yourself?
Passionate! I always put my heart into everything that I do. I am a Scorpio after all.
2. If you had a million dollars, what would you do with it?
Working with not for profit agencies that deliver services to those in need is a humbling experience, it's hard to be selfish when you know of the realities of those across the world as well as in our very own community. I would definitely go on a tropical adventure but I think that I would have to reinvest back into our community for those who need it most.
3. Where were you born?
Halifax, Nova Scotia
4. What was your favorite subject in high school?
Art
5. What was your least favorite subject in high school?
Calculus
6. If you weren't in your current career, what would you be?
I have always dreamt of working with the United Nations High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR).
7. Do you read your horoscope?
Sometimes, whenever the mood strikes me.
8. What's the most daring thing you've ever done?
I traveled across a straight in the Atlantic Ocean off the coast of West Africa in a wooden pirogue (small boat) with a hole in the bottom of it. The waves were huge and the boat almost capsized a few times while continuously taking on water. It was the kind of situation that I normally read about in the paper.
9. What's your favorite television show?
CSI, I also have a secret love for Coronation Street that I inherited from my mother.
10. What's your favorite season of the year?
Summer, there is no better smell of for me then freshly cut grass.
11. What are your hobbies?
Roller blading, running, and when ever the opportunity arises traveling. I always love trying new things and experiencing new cultures.
12. If you could plan a vacation anywhere in the world, where would you go?
That's a tough one; I'm not one for resorts, I prefer to have the true experience of visiting another country's vast cultures. A little piece of my heart is still in Africa so I would have to say back to West Africa.
13. If you could have lunch with any person in the world (living or dead), who would you choose and where would you eat?
I would have to say either Nelson Mandela, or Stephen Lewis. Nelson Mandela gave his life for freedom and Stephen Lewis, among other great things, brought the HIV/AIDS epidemic to the world stage. Where would we eat? At my house, I would love to make them dinner. I'm a pretty good cook.
14. What's the best thing about living in Moncton?
My family and friends.
15. Where's the furthest you've ever travelled?
Senegal and The Gambia
16. What is your proudest accomplishment?
In 2006 I was awarded Third Place for New Brunswick's Strongest Professional Women (Business Professional Women's Club). It was a true honor and an absolute surprise.
17. Who is your role model?
My mother, Dianne Reddy, the strongest women I have ever had the pleasure in knowing. There is no one that I appreciate more.
18. What is your favorite movie?
I'm a huge movie fan. I would have to say at this moment 300 and the God Father Series.
19. What is your favorite snack food?
Nachos anytime, anywhere. I am a nacho connoisseur.
20. Where's the best place to spend a rainy day in Moncton?
On my couch in my pajamas, when there is nowhere to go and nothing to do. I cherish those moments, they do not happen very often!
