
Golf for charity

The Rotary Club of Moncton West and Riverview will host its 11th annual Rotary Charity Classic Golf Tournament on Aug. 28 at the Royal Oaks Golf Club.
Registration begins at 11:30 a.m., with free use of the practice facility until the Shot Gun start at 1 p.m, and includes a round of golf with power cart, reception, deluxe banquet buffet, entertainment and a Stormtech Stratus H2X jacket. The reception will be held at 5:30 p.m. in the new Clubhouse at Royal Oaks, with dinner and a live auction at 6:30 p.m.
Hole-in-One prizes include a 2008 Audi A4 Quatro, sponsored by Dieppe Auto; a Lawsons Dream Kitchen, sponsored by Lawsons Signature Kitchens; a trip for four to the Masters, sponsored by VICWEST; and a Super Bowl XLIII package for four, sponsored by Maritime Cresting Company. The first player to get a hole-in-one on each prize hole wins the prize.
Special on course contests include a closest-to-the-line contest on the par-5 seventh hole, the Via Rail Express Contest on the par-5 third hole, and the Rogers Newsmaker of the day contest on the par-4 15th hole. Golfers can also win a trip for two anywhere West Jet flies.
During the event, participants will have the opportunity to participate in a live and silent auction with a number of unique experiences and products up for auction. Interested golfers may register as part of a team for $800, or as an individual for $200, Tickets for the dinner and auction alone are $40.
