For two days next week, St. Paul's United Church offers the Riverview community an opportunity to make a difference by shopping fair trade.

Shoppers will discover hundreds of handcrafted home decor items, musical instruments, ornaments, toys and jewellery made by skilled artisans in more than 35 countries.

The handmade products featured in this sale are offered through Ten Thousand Villages. Ten Thousand Villages provides vital, fair income to artisans around the world by marketing their handicrafts and telling their stories in North America.

All proceeds from the Riverview Festival Sale benefit Ten Thousand Villages artisan partners, in addition to over 100 Festival Sales held this past year in communities from Newfoundland to Vancouver Island, Ten Thousand Villages also operates 50 stores across Canada.

"By holding this sale, we're giving customers in Riverview a chance to buy unique products while helping people in developing countries to meet basic needs for themselves and their family," says Sue Berube, sale organizer in Riverview. "Together we're making a difference."

Ten Thousand Villages is a non-profit, fair trade organization and a program of Mennonite Central Committee, the relief, service and peace agency of the Mennonite and Brethren in Christ churches. This sale will be the only opportunity to purchase Ten Thousand Villages goods in the Greater Moncton area before Christmas.

The Festival Sale will be held from 5 to 9 p.m. on Nov. 28 and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Nov. 29 at St. Paul's United Church. For more information, contact Sue Berube at 386-2196.
